Description
King Santhanu led a lonely life in Hastinapura....but once his wife, goddess Ganga devi reappeared and gifted their grown up son to him ,well groomed as a warrior !!!! The King assured her that he would be the crown prince of Hastinapura .After that, his beloved wife went into the depth of the River Ganges and vanished for ever...................
The lonely King Santhanu, who was still young, indulged in his own duties as a ruler and took care of his son,Devavratha, who was a handsome teenager, then.
Few years went by.....One dayWhile the King was riding on his horse early morning,in the forests, near river Ganges,he felt the intoxicating smell of magnolias !!!!! Then Santhanu moved towards the riverbank on his horse following the fragrance .When he reached there, instead of magnolia flowers,he saw a beautiful young woman sitting near her boat ! Then he desperately thought about his own estranged wife Ganga devi, who had left forever....He just wanted to wipe out all bitter past memories and start a new life with that beautiful woman !! So he approached Sathyavathi and proposed.....She smiled ! She was thinking about Sage Parasara's words....A boat journey in her teens...a moonless night...
She agreed to be his queen with a demand, that their future children would be the rulers of Hastinapura ! Once again the King broke his promise and agreed....The scent of magnolias spread every where.
