Description
Princess Sita was born, directly from mother earth and was brought up by King Janaka and his wife. She was married to Prince Rama who was the future king of Ayodhya. They were living happily until Rama's step mother Kaikeyi connives to have him banished for 14 years to make her own son Bharata,as the ruler of the kingdom...So Rama went to the forests with beautiful Sita and his another brother Laxmana,in exile.(But Bharatha couldn't accept his mothers cruelty. He kept Rama's shoes on the throne and ruled the kingdom for 14 years until Rama's return) In the forests Sita had a wonderful life with her loving husband, protection of a brother and after all there she was in company with nature that she never experienced before.....But unfortunately a demon king Ravana saw her and had become so enamored by her celestial beauty....he had his own plans...He send his uncle Maricha, to her in the form of a golden deer....Sita ,was so tempted to see the deer and send her husband Rama and his brother to catch it ...without any delay, Ravana reached there and abducted her and took her to his territory in Lanka.Sita silently sat under an Ashoka tree, she closed her eyes, rejected food and drink offered by his subjects...Thinking only about Rama ! This confused even the cruel demon King and he never dared to look at her........Then Rama came with his army and with the help of the Air God Hanuman in the form of a monkey, saved Sita and killed the demon king Ravana in a one on one fight ! There they lived happily ever after in Ayodhya, until Rama heard a launderer bad mouthing about Sita's Chastity ! As a true wise king, who loved his subjects more than his own family,he responded not only by punishing the launderer, but banishing his beloved wife Sita from the palace with no explanation !!!!!!
Poor Sita was at this time pregnant with his twins....She helplessly wandered in the forests near Tamasa river where the great sage Valmiki was living.........He came to know about her sad story and invited her to his hut and protected her as a true father......she spent 14 more years there and raised Rama's 2 sons Lava & Kusa !!! In her life,Sita suffered silently for her own family, for the country and for the world, with a bold mindset....as she knew , other wise a woman can shatter the world by her own deeds !!

F/L How sad the life of a king - he must live not for himself but for his people. Sita is a beauty and you've done a masterful job illustrating her sorrow and isolation- it's wonderful, right down to the dark colors and heavy burden she carries.
Latha Gokuldas Panicker replied:
Thank you dear Carol, for such an intense comment....Yes even now Sita is considered as the symbol of patience,Carol.
