Navaratri is a nine day long Indian festival celebrated by Hindus.This festival displays feminine power.Each day is dedicated to nine Goddesses in different colored attire.Different types of offerings also preffered by each Goddesses.On the first day, Ma Shailaputri is worshiped.She wear orange colored costumes and worshiped with orange colored flowers.She is the daughter of mountain King Himavan and the manifestation of Durga ma.Devotees keep strict fasting for nine days.They prefer only satwik (pure)foods like fruits and simple home made vegetarian foods which is pure in nature.The tenth day every home is decorated and filled with sweets and different types of gheer for the guests who come to wish each other.On this day small children starts their education in a temple with the help of a Guru.I love Navaratri days.My grand father who was an Ayurvedic doctor, in his eighties used to go to temple as a Guru for tiny children and I used to accompany him on those days of my childhood.......Happy Navaratri days to all my friends....
