Madhubani art or Mithila art was originated during the time of epic Ramayana,when the King Janaka ruled Mithila (now a part of Bihar,India)The story of wedding goes like this..........It was centuries back...photography and videography were unknown...so King Janaka commissioned artisans of Mithila to paint various scenes of marriage ceremony of his beloved daughter Sita !
When King Janaka arranged for Swayamvara (The custom of bride choosing her groom )a large crowd of eligible princes came even from far away lands to try their luck.....The one who strings the great bow of Lord Siva,could marry Sita !
On the previous day of wedding, beautiful Sita decided to go to temple with her friends to pray and just to have a look at the crowd of guests in a careless manner...She saw many faces...some looked proud..some cruel.....some timid ! Then she spotted Rama,the Crown Prince of Ayodhya- with a kind face.He looked as if he could care,share as well as be brave a...
