Description
In India, the art of puppetry is originated in a community of farmers of Rajastan called as Bhats. They used to travel all through the country side with their puppets(Called as Katputli) for the string puppet shows. These dolls are made out of wood and dressed up in bright colored, printed cotton cloths. They are attached to strings. The Puppeteer moves the joined limbs of male and female puppets on a coat, using threads-hiding himself from the audience.Drum beats announce the starting of each show conducted mostly at night. Each show has a theme narrated by the female members of the troupe with appropriate songs and beats on drums according to the movements of the puppets. These shows are enjoyed not only by the children, but all age groups of village folks........Life was so simple, once !!
