Odissi dance was originated in the Indian state of Odisha.Its colorful costumes,unique jewellery and rhythmic movements differentiate it from other dance forms of India.Kelucharan Mahopatra was a legendary Indian Odissi dancer and considered as the Guru of Odissi.Here artists and musicians used to play out a mythical story or devotional poem from ancient Hindu texts.Its expressions and Mudras, all set out in Sanskrit language.
