Description
Ragamala paintings personify the visual aspects of various Raagas in Indian classical music. These paintings form an exquisite expression of Indian melody with a particular season of year or time of day, different moods-like loneliness, ecstasy, different shades of happiness- in different colors. The six principal Ragas present in Ragamala are-Bhairav,Deepak,,Malkaunsa,Megha Hindola and Sreeraga which are represented as male characters and their sub Ragas are considered as their wives, called as Raginis and children,Ragaputras. Those main Ragas are meant to be sung during the six seasons of the year-Summer,Monsoon,Autumn,Early Winter,Winter and Spring. Here Todi Ragini depicts a lonely young woman,a symbol of love in separation or loss who plays with deer, plucking flowers and singing in the forest to hide her sorrow from friends.......
